The New Life Movement was set up by the Chinese Nationalist Party from 1934 to 1949, named because it started with daily life of citizens. Chiang Kai-shek attempted to aim at the promotion of a regular life guided by a mix of traditional Confucianism, not only superficially clean and civilized conduct, but reforming society and the revival of our country.General Assembly of The New Life Movement awarded articles of the Guide of the New Life, announcing a series of detailed behavior request for the masses. The New Life is an organic combination of traditional Confucianism and Western Christianity, putting forth an ideal national image at that time, quite difference with the majority of the real. The key of this movement is to narrow the gap. The implement of New Life Movement has a positive effect on improving people's life and their diathesis, inspiring the national inspirit, and enhancing the solidarity of the masses. But only depending on a simple movement is hard to solve the problem ultimately in the age of national calamity with the extremely low standard of living. Nationalist party government didn't focus to resist Japanese aggression and save the country, but waste their energy to picket the manners and dress of poor people, which shows its side of going against the tide of history. Therefore, we should objectively evaluate the gain and loss of the New Life Movement, in order to finding the real method to solve the contradiction of society and culture.This essay will proceed with the rationality, the way of its implement and the advantages and disadvantages of the results, and mainly expatiate on the detailed approaches of remolding national ideology and action. Using history as our guide and mirror, analysis the rationality of our behavior standard from the point of view of social performance studies, trying to find concrete measures that we can learn from, and summarize suitable methods to advance the national image, feature and comprehensive quality nowadays.
