Microscopic Under The Authority Of The Female Body Is Constructed With Self-perception

The disciplinary powers of the body had been discussed a long time, whether it was stated by Foucault's "power/body" theory, or by Pierre Bourdieu's "symbolic violence" theory. Both of them described and analyzed the discipline and constraints of the body suffered from various power. Compared to male body, female body has always been the main battlefield for the discourse and power to display the controlling, this had been a common view to western feminism and culture study.With the rising of consumerism in China, all sorts of young, sexy, fashionable female body rushed out of the ethical and moral rational category, ascended to the consumer culture stage. Body, especially the presentation, imagination and discourse evolvement of female body in the consumer culture has become a popular topic. The researches from the social, culture, customs and so on indicated that:driven by the commercial economy, the discipline of the female body was changing from a macro political field to a micro economic and cultural field. Female body has been constructed into prospective goods and desire symbols by all sorts of knowledge and discourse. They had conquered thousands of women in real life though the "female temperament" according with the aesthetic requirement of mass society, and summoned, encouraged them to modifying their body.According to the culture phenomena of women modifying their body in the micro-power field of consuming culture actively or passively, this paper starts with the'elaboration of Foucault's "Power Technology", and introduces Foucault's micro-power theory into the inspection about the modern discipline on the female body. In the post-modern background, power and discipline of the female body is altering from day to day:power is no longer a macro-political power held by the minority or a small number of Group, but to penetrate in the capillary-like social network among the interaction relations; its physical punishment is neither bloody nor violent, but insidious, moderate disciplinary that change the subject from passive to active within the discipline; its physical punishment is no longer implemented for the deprivation of life, but through the spiritual controlling. The construction of modern society under Foucault's "micro-power theory" is essentially a disciplinary society. In the disciplinary society, micro-power elects consumer-discourse and patriarchal discourse as the two main strategies, and take the discourse, field, capital as the means to shaping "standard body" that meets the purposes of patriarchal aesthetic and economics. This discipline toward the female body is so all-pervasive that it is even rooted in the female self-consciousness, and it will exert a profound impact on the self-cognition.Based on a detailed analysis of the disciplinary strategies and the relative characteristics above the female body, the paper discusses the impacts of this ubiquitous physical discipline toward the female identity and female self-consciousness. After that we begin our exploration of a new path for women's self-construction. Foucault's micro-power is the theoretical basis here. However, both the feminism theory and Culture Study are being employed to achieve a detailed presentation, so the difficulties women faced would be broken through.
