From the style evolution of the statues of Jiankang, Xinchang and Chengdu,the article makes a regional comparative study on the Buddhism statues of theSouthern dynasty. and comes to a conception that with Jiankang as the centralradiation point. the Buddhism statue belts of the Southern dynasty weredistributed along the Yangtse valley. In order to make the study ascomprehensive as possible. the article includes same statues of the Northerndynasty and India in the comparison. From the comparison. it can be concludedthat more advanced than that of the Northern dynasty, the style of statues ofthe Southern dynasty with Jiankang and Chengdu as the center. radiatednorthwards and influenced the style of northern statues in many factors.Radiating northwards. the Jiankang style influenced statues of Qinzhou (Shandong).statues of Quyang (Hebei). and statues of Tianlongshan Grotto at Taiyuan;radiating northwards. the Chengdu style influenced statues of grottoes at MaijishanBinglingsi. Dunhuang and Other areas in the west of the Yollow River. On thebasis of documentary study. the article makes a research on the origin and thepropagation route of statues of six dynasties, and preliminaries establishes thepropagation route from India. Sri Lanka. Cambodia to the Southern dynasty andQinzhou. The article. in five parts. makes a relatively systematic study on thestyle evolution and development of the Buddhism statues of the Southerndynasty.
