Slaughterhouse Five, the representative work of Kurt Vonnegurt, a contemporary American Black Humor master, was published in 1969. From the 1960s to the Mid-70s, Vonnegurt was almost neglected by the literary critics. However, the publishing of Slaughterhouse Five made Vonnegurt position in literary world firmly established in the end. After that, Slaughterhouse Five was once rank the best-selling book by limes and what more, it started a craze for Vonneguit among college students. Graham Green, a famous English writer, also referred to Vonnegurt as ne of the excellent contemporary writers in America Slaughterhouse Five is a masterpiece in contemporary American literature, not only profound in art forms, but also in thoughts. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze Slaughterhouse Five in the aspect of its narrative arts as deeply as possible. In order to make readers get a better understanding of both the novel and the author, this thesis attempts to apply the theories of narratology to analyze the model of focalization and the control system over time and space in Slaughterhouse Five.
