O'~deill's autobiography Long Day's Journey Into Night highlyconcentrates on his life experiences and his understanding about life and soul.The paper's point of entry is the play itself, but it makes a further research intothe author's thinking properties and life experiences. This thesis is dividedinto three parts. The first one makes a concrete analysis of the creative process,interior structure and artistic features in the play. It reveals the innerrelationship between the play and the writer's life philosophy and thinkingproperty. The second part mainly concerns the component construction andcharacteristics of each stage of his point view of life and the world bysearching the developing orbit of his thinking. The last one makes animportant study about O'neill's thinking characteristics from the followingfive aspects: Sensitivity) Assimilation) Originality, Contradiction,Mystery , and at the same time the paper discusses the general characteristicsof creative thinking.
