On Loving The Value Of Classical Studies

There were four groups who explained the Odes of Poems in Han dynasty. But only the later group, that is to say Maoshi, exists until today. Fortunately there is one book of Hanshi whose name is Hanshiwaizhuan that has also been kept till now. People usually neglect it. But the author of this thesis thinks that it is one of the few but important works which exist till now for its great values of acdemics and literature and etc. Its value for classical research (jingxue)has attacted him mostly.There are four parts for the thesis.The first section is the research situation for this book. The author makes simple introduction and argument for the fruit of research and the level of knowing in the past. Its aim is to make out the thought and research fruit for the author himself.The second section is how to appreciate the value of the book in which how to interpret the meaning of poems. We can find that it is for the need of that times that the writers explored the Odes of Poems from the model and methods of the four groups that has left partly. The difference among the early thing(gu), cite (zhu), saying (shuo),the inner writing (neizhuan)and the outer writing(waizhuan) is not strict. There is one part of this book for explaining the poems directly. Yet the method for interpreting is not limited to the literature. We can find that the culture content including literature is the material by which to explain the poems.The third section: Hanshi waizhuan has the value for making clear the meaning of the classical. It also has the process of the thought that is the body of six odes (shi shu yi li yue chun- qiu). It interprets the meaning of the body as soon as it does for poems. Under the new situation it connects the academic groups (Zhuzi) with the meaning of classics of Ru. Then bythis means can it popularize and make fit the manner and music (Liyue) cultural meaning of the Odes of Poems for that times. Hanshiwaizhuan's new concept of moral, union of manners, laws and new effected explaining manners are done with the upper wish.The forth part: Hanshiwaizhuan has its site during the history of the thinking and cultural development in dynasties of Qin and Han. HanYing, the author of this book, had contributed two aspects for the development of Ru in the early time of Han Dynasty. One is to broaden the space of thinking for the field of metaphysics of Ru. The other is to make clean and popularize the moral rules of Ru. The first side shows another part besides the main the mainly academic thought that is from experience. The later mends the lack of the mass and practical effect of Dong Zhong Shu and the other men.
