Since the middle 1980s, the great changes in the aesthetic culture system have severely influenced the traditional concept and methodology. New thoughts and new forms, like the bamboo shoots after a spring rain, have been developing quickly. The culture pattern has been changing from monism to pluralism, from glory the confusion, which consequently leads to the question how we should judge and understand the new art trend. There is no denying that the answer should lie in the special changes of the aesthetic ideology in the process of Chinese modernization and China's meeting with international standards. This answer should also be found from the vertical and lateral studies of modern China's cultural development. This study of this paper focuses on the analysis and research of the special phenomenon in Art Circle in the late 1980s, so it belongs to the realm of Culture and Art study. The 1985 New Art Movement is a complicated social phenomenon and it causes a shock to people's sense of vision. As a product of the cultural shock in the field of art, this movement has a strong ideological color. Under such a background, this paper studies the role the aesthetic ideology reform plays in the art development and the relation between the aesthetic ideology and cultural choices. Its purpose is to provide the readers with a basic knowledge of the origin and development of Chinese modern arts. All the choices have their pertinences, which of the 1985 New Art Movement is the art modernization: that is, the western cultureinfluence from the outside, and the retrospect and analysis of the past and tradition from the inside. As for the future of Chinese Art, the best choice is to combine the features of China and the world, the tradition and modernity and the science and humanity, to transcend the opposition of the West and the East, and to adopt the old and simple dualist approach.
