Qu Xixian Music Creation Psychology

The studies of composition basically are the combination of two methods in terms of history. One is musicology, which is based on the analysis of the musical works. The other is history, which begins at the social environment in which the composer lived, and studies the impact of the social factors on the composer, further more, regards the impact as the basis of the analysis of the musical works. Without doubt, they are the effective methods of studying the composition because they have taken good use of the achievements made byothers. But the two methods only study the input of the composition----social information and the output----the musical works information. As forthe middle link----the psychological field of the composer, few things havebeen done on it. This is the deficiency of the studies of the composition.If the psychological field of the composer is regarded as the "black box, the contemporary psychology and development in other scientific fields have provided us with lots of useful tools to explore the psychological of composer. The achievements in history and musicology will promote the studies of composition.The author can not analyze and study in detail the composing ----psychology of large number of composer, because of the unclear characteristic of thinking, relative difficullties of the psycxho-case studies and the limitation of author's energy. The author has chosen the female composer Quxixian as the study subject. Quxixian has a special status and is very significant in the history of Chinese contemporary music. She is also the composer the author admires and loves. By means of interviewing Quxixian, of reading the musical documents on Quxixian, and of using the psycho-methods, the auther makes a serial of analysis and studies on Quxixian's coposition psychology.The thesis is composed of three parts.Part I introduce the viewpoints of the five most significant doctrines in psychology, combine the composing psychology with the above view points.Part II: Introduce Quxixian's life and analyze and study the character structure and life experience from the angle of psychology.Part III: Summarize the process of Quxixian's composition psychology and psycho-characteristic on the basis of the achievements of the above two parts.
