| The mental health describes an psychological state in which individual can continually adjust his interior psychology and effectively interact with environment so that he may assort with surroundings. Moreover, his mentality may developes gradually thus it becomes more and more perfectAll psychologists emphasize that the mental health comprises two aspects, namely, the internal harmonization and external adaptability. In their opinion, eitheir of the tow is indispenable and a balance exist between them.Furthermore, the mental health state is continuous and dynamic. So the mental health is relative and temporal, not obvious and constant. The psychological problems are very different in the degree.Scholars home and overseas brang forward various criterion owing to their different behavior observations. And those criterion are ideal goals and they not only provided diagnostic tools but also directed us to the more healthy mentality.By today, many studies had proved the relationship between the mental health and something , example for multiple abilities, performance, attitude and physical health. So it is considered as the most important internal resource for individual survival and development.Because femalels play a very important role in both families and society owing to thire special physical and psychological characteristics. If they are put into prison, the development of their children will be hurt. So will their families and society . In order to decrease the number of them we must study their problems and find resovent.But never a study has been reported about the mental health of female criminals by now.This research aimed at the mental health state of female criminals and tried to find relevent factors in order to take effective strategies and provide psychological reference and evidence for criminals reform and education.In this research 378 famale criminals were investigated by using SCL-90, coping style questionnaire, criminal files and general item questionnaire. Data was input to computer and processed in the software SPSS 1 1.0 for the Windows. Statistical approaches included CHI-Square Test, T Test, ANOVA, Correlation and stepwise Regression.The study got Results: 1 . Compared with the general adults, the female criminals had more and serious symptom. 372 women had masculine symptom, which was 98.41 per cent of the whole and the proportion was significantly higher than that of persons in penitentiary, which was 40.6% (x2=503.59, p<0.001 ) . The general rate of women who had psychological problem or mental disorder to the whole was respectively 74.6% or 61.9% . The proportion was higher by contrast with that of Chinese students, follower of a religion, sufferers for chronic disease, soldiers stationed in Tibet in China. And their problems were serious and prevalentwhen they were refered to targets such as PA,HO,SO,IN and AN. 2. The mental health state of female criminals significantly related to their negative characteristic coping style, the positive characteristic coping style , education, the original imprisonment, jail time and remaining imprisonment. Two factors were safeguard-factor for their mental health, example for the positive characteristic coping style. The negative characteristic coping style is risk factors.Besides, it significantly varied with other factors including physical health, crime type, commit crime career and birth history. But only to those objects responsing strongly , was the influence of menstruation response an important factor. The mental health state of violence offenders was remarkably inferior to the others'.After stepwise regression analyse, seven factors entered the regressive equation . They were physical health , remain pubnishment, the original imprisonment and the negative characteristic coping style.The research deduce conclusions that : the mental health state of female criminals is inferior to that of general adults, students, religinists, soldiers stationed in Tibet in china, chronic patien... |
