The figure stone relief arts of the Han dynasty in Nanyang is an important part of Chinese fine art history, and do great good to the spirits of Han dynasty and the development of Chinese traditional figure paintings. It has abundant topics and rich contents, which started in the special background of the Han dynasty of Nanyang, touched upon many fields of the society. Influenced by the culture of Chu, it shows the romances and the freely creativeness of Chu, the differences from those figure stone relief of the Han dynasty in the other districts in China, and its skillful styles of the images and formations and lines exert a large visual attack to us.This thesis makes an attempt to study the features of its background, contents, art styles and skills, and to compare it with the same kind of fine art works. In this way, through the study of the perspectives of it spirits and form and in the view of aesthetics, the author hopes to make a further understanding of the tendency of the figure stone relief arts of the Han dynasty of Nanyang, to appreciate its special charms.
