There are close connections between every country's musical culture and it's etiquettes and customs in the world. This thesis, by combining the historical documents and the material of archaeology and folklore, preliminary studies the characteristics and the varieties of the music which exists in the palace's obsequies and folk funerals at distinct stages of the Han Dynasty, through the visual angle of "the Chinese music in the activities of the ancient etiquettes and customs". It is expected in the article that this research could demonstrate the history of forming evolution and developing of the Chinese funeral music in the Han Dynasty, by inspecting the motion of contradiction between the etiquettes and the customs in the funeral ritual music of the Han Dynasty. On the basis of the preceding expositions, the article also goes further into a question of the reasons for the morphogenesis and the functions for the rituals of the Han Dynasty's funeral music from the angle of the comparison between the Chinese cultures and the Western's, and delineates the basic characteristics which blending the folk customs of Chu and carrying on the institution of the Zhou Dynasty's etiquettes of the funeral musical cultures in the Han Dynasty.
