| Qing court art was known for its narrative paintings depicting the current affairs such as battle, hunt and inspection tours. Those narrative paintings based on current affairs became another "historical document "other than literal historical document. Once the history itself took on as image, "the history self reality" would turn into "pictures history ".Then the relationship between "the reality" , "the literal document" and the narrative painting represents intricacy and subtlety. In addition, "the picture history" -inspired took on dense imperial taste as a result of emperor patronage and offer the emperor opportunity to lay out the ruler's self-awareness and understanding of the requirement and prerogative of imperial power. This was particularly true in the Qianlong's Period when the emperor proclaims himself as wholeness prolocutor. This thesis examines the relationship between the word and image taking "The Qianlong Southern Inspection Tour" as a case, to release how the Qianlong Emperor use the image to build another self-image . |
