This dissertation tries to research the novel creation of Xiao Qian in the 193 Os, and tries to use his ideas of novel creation of "for life" to investigate this theoretic practice in his novel creation, want to seize the attitude of life and society as well as the direction in the creation effort under this kind of attitude: he take rigorous realism care of life and reality, and conscious eager for combining this creative attitude with art, hope to realize the harmony of life and art in the novel creation, so have formed personality artistic style.The thesis is divided into three parts totally, attempt from Xiao Qian's concept of novel creation to discuss the ideological purport of his novel creation as well as the style of novel form.The first part of the dissertation discusses the form of Xiao Qian's concept of novel creation. Xiao Qian's early novel creation is trend in "initial Chinese painting", for he influence by the traditional culture, the unique understanding of life and the influence of Shen Congwen, since write face straightly to reality, ponder and express social life, thinking artistic creation as well as individual experience of life, the latent influence of cultural trend and cultural language boundary, and have formed "for life" the novel creation concept that writes realistically.The second part of the dissertation elaborates the thought of "for life" of Xiao Qian's novel creation, hi this part I analyses his creative concept of "for life" combined with his novel creation. Xiao Qian on the one hand put the intellectual to torture of the depart from the correct stand, on the other hand critical the foolish, follow blindly and speculate of the masses, so to pay attention to the saved of spirit of the masses; In the works of religious subject with bright social life, participate in consciousness, on sociology layer surface from historical and political angle, review for religious cultural, hope to awaken the masses, reform life.The third part of the dissertation investigates the artistic style of novel. This part includes the proceeding of three aspects: the keynote with melancholy, the sober lyrics, construction of poetry. Xiao Qian pursue the fighting and the sociality in his novel creation, but the melancholy temperament of individual, the tragedy of novel content make Xiao Qian's novel formed melancholy keynote in whole; lyrics in the art, the psychology distance of create aesthetic, the feelings of writing are controlled and objective, it make his novel write sober; construction the image of poetry and interweave with feeling, symbolism and the poetry of language make Xiao Qian's novel formed poetry. These have formed the artistic style of graceful and restrained in his creation.
