What differs essentially "Independent Film" discussed in this paper from "the sixth generation", "the new born generation" and "underground film" is that I put the economic factor into consideration on film and extend to social, cultural and aesthetical level. Independent Film developed rapidly in China is the result of both the developing world Independent Film and the reformation of Chinese society. Discussing and reading Chinese Independent Film must be based on the nation's present context. This paper regards independent film as a system which includes film machine, economical action, text and medium. So independent film and the interpretations, remarks and responses on it were formed a more extensive text which is overlapped the social and cultural context. This paper in the last analysis put this cinematic cultural phenomena in order, which is going-on and responded from internet and youth, exploring the social and cultural significance of the present represented by Independent Film and fully narrating the Independent Film in the structure of society and history.
