| This study investigated the effects of exposure frequency (1 exposure, 3 exposures or 6 exposures ), marginal gloss type (single and multiple -choice marginal glosses), and learner proficiency (low, middle, and high level ) on Korean learners' incidental vocabulary learning by Chinese reading. 54 Korean students participated this study. After a reading task, they were given two surprise vocabulary tests (with context and without context). A week later, the two tests were given again. Results indicated that (a) exposure frequency significantly affected learners' incidental vocabulary learning, 6 exposures performed significantly better than 1 exposure and 3 exposures, (b)the multiple-choice marginal glosses performed significantly better than the single marginal glosses, (c)the Frequency×Glosses Type× Learner Proficiency interaction was significant. |
