Cervantes, for almost four hundred years, has been the object of numerous studies, not only in Spain but also in Britain, Germany, France, Russia and other countries. However, there is one aspect of the great novel, Don Quixote, which has been looked at sufficiently and is the source of some curiosity. This great novel has been origin of some persistent characteristics. This thesis analyzed the possible influences which the great Spanish writer of the Golden Age, Migul de Cervantes, may have on the British novelists between the 18th and 19th centuries, in his novelistic masterpiece known as Don Quixote de la Mancha. This study proposes to examine possible sources of influence of Don Quixote on the British novels, such as Joseph Andrews, Tom Jones, Emma, Northanger Abbey, Pickwick Papers, Tale of Two Cities, etc. with the objective of finding parallels both in style and content.The major British writers between the 18th and 19th centuries in this study are the following: Fielding, Austen and Dickens. The objective of this study is to examine possible evidence of quixotic influence after careful reading and studying of the British novels in the 18th and 19th centuries-most of which present difficulty in comprehensive due to apprehending differences(each person will have a different understanding to the same novel and they live in various times and surroundings)-and to draw conclusions of comparative elements, both in structure and content, which an useful in clarifying certain ambiguities which hinder the appreciation in full of this ingenious masterpiece.
