Jin Shengtan was a great talent on literary comment in Ming and Qing Dynasty. The theory about "the gifted person" and "the books written by gifted person" was brought forward by Jin Shengtan and it was unique at that time. The theory reflected his particular insight and outstanding critical talent on Jin Shengtan. The reasons that Jin shengtan put forward the theory was not only because of his personality and his artistic talent, but also because of history background and social actuality.This paper was divided into three chapters. The first chapter mainly analyzed the criterion that Jin shengtan picked out "the books written by gifted person" and showed the influences of these books reviewed by Jin shengtan. There were three main criterion that Jin shengtan picked out "the books written by gifted person" .It demanded that the book's structure should be compact and meticulous. Original creation was another criterion. The third criterion was that the book should reflect people's feeling and thinking. According to above criterion, Jin shengtan picked out six books as his critical objects and set up particular system about literary comment. The books reviewed by Jin shengtan were popular very much. Jin shengtan was praised and abused by different people after he reviewed these books. The second chapter mainly analyzed Jin shengtan's comments on "the gifted person" and the talent of "the gifted person". It was invaluable that Jin shengtan realized that the creation of article by "the gifted person" was full of difficulties andchallenges and he hoped people should respect their work. He thought the ability of writing with different people was distinguishing. The levels of article were also different. He regarded Shi Nai'an as the delegate of "the gifted person" over the world and analyzed his unique talent in writing novel named with "Outlaws of the Marsh" . The third chapter mainly discussed the reasons why Jin shengtan put forward the theory about "the gifted person" and "the books written by gifted person". There were there main reasons. Firstly, it was related with Jin shengtan's attitude toward "the gifted person". He was a talent himself and he respected and cherished others who had literary or artistic talent. It was an important base for Jin shengtan in spirit that he put forward the theory. Secondly, it was associated with Jin shengtan's ideal. He hoped that these books which had reviewed by him would be come down forever. Thirdly, it was also connected with publishing industry of the time. There were many problems in publishing industry such as pirate that one who made use of or reproduced the work of another without authorization. Erotic novels also appeared largely. The quality of these books was coarse and bad. Jin shengtan was anxious for this situation. So he put forward the theory about "the gifted person" and "the books written by gifted person". He hoped that it would solve current issues.
