Francis Bacon is one of the Epoch-making personages in the historyof philosophy and science. As a remarkable materialism philosopher, heopened a new era of experiential philosophy, which studies perceptualnature by means of experience, thus he plays an important role inBritain's and human intellectual history. Marx had praised him to be "thereal primogenitor of English materialism and the whole modernexperiential science."His "Knowledge is power"is still very importantfor the development of our society. At present, the study on Bacon is mainly about his philosophy, including his view of ethnics and religion, etc. The study on his socialconception of history is insufficient. I have summarized the achievementsof studies on Bacon for nearly 20 years. By analyzing his works and histhoughts, I try to make his social conception of history more clear. Firstly, the paper tells the background of Bacon's social conception of history. Then to describe its main content from three aspects, his understanding ofthe rule of social development, his opinion of social development at thattime, and his assumption of future society. Finally summarize the paper. Ihope that by doing this we can have a deeper and better understanding ofBacon in a new angle, and that it can be beneficial to buildingharmonious society today.
