Tang Dynasty The Henan Yuanshi Family Research

This thesis chooses Henan yuan family who accepted the advanced civilization of the Han nationality exhausitively as study object in order to go further into the transformation of yuan family in Tang Dynasty by means of inscription on the graves and official history.This thesis makes a comprehensive analysis to the transformation in eight section .Chapter 1 introuduces a question concerning the family of academic research , the significance and method of study and the organzation of this thesis. Chapter 1 states the yuan' s history after Xiaowen Reform and make clear the four genealogyies in Tang dynasty . Chapter 2, 3, 4and 5 research their changes in many ascepts such as official position , marriage relationship , culture and economics in Tang Dynasty . These changes have much with yuan family' transformation. By analysing, we can draw a conclusion that the yuan family declined in politics and economics gradually, while they ascended in culture . With the development of imperial examinations, more and more families had realized that the importance of civilition. Consequently, yuan family' s culture determined by imperial examinations .This means their culture conformed to Confucian ideal .The Henan yuan family developed into the new type cultural family. Chapter 6 analyzes reasons of changes. Henan yuan' s transformation had related to the social condition of politics, economics, culture of Tang Dynasty. In addition these changes had much with yuan' s alteration themselves.In conclusion , thesis expounds the significance of yuan family' s transformation in Tang Dynasty.Henan yuan family accomplished the transformation from people of imperial lineage to the family of imperial examinations in Tang Dynasty. This kind of transformation reflected most families' development during the long history extensively. Henan yuan family became one of the outstanding culture families in acient history.
