In 1954,the underground stone salb tomb of Yi'nan was discovered in Beizhai village in Shadong Province. It is the beginning of a serials of excavation to stone relief tombs. The lavish relief carvings and the integrity of architecture appears the top situation of stone reliefs of Han dynasty. In 1956,the excavation report of the tomb was published. The subsequent discussion rose by the excavation report improved the study of stone relifs greatly. The scholars have made great achivement in explaining the story and ideology in relifs. But,it is difficult to do more these years because of the lackness of proof of the time and master of the Yi'nan tomb. The most special aspect of Yi'nan is that its representation looks like painting on stones by a sharp tooLAnd the figures in it are so vivid that you can't believe they are fixed. These are all different from local reliefs. In the past, some scholar had suggest there were some influence from art of Chu.But these years people don't talk about it again. We shouldn't only regard the Yi'nan tomb as a combination of stone relifs or a funeral architecture made by slab but also it is a work of ritual art.It is the unite of content and form.In the past, there are few analysis about its manner of representation. So,I attempt to begin my work with plenty of excavation materials such as Zhucheng tomb,Anqiu tomb,Baizhuang tomb,Boxian tomb,Changli tomb,Dahuting tomb and Zhuwei shrine to compare their styles with Yi'nan tomb. Then to find out its character related to time and region,to understand its essence as ritual art.
