As one of the three major currents of Canadian feminism, socialist feminism has its own attraction to mass women during the 1960-70s when the second wave of the international women's movement was going on. Canadian socialist feminism has been in the center of the mainstream because of its ideology and practice. The thesis is composed of five parts as follows:Part Ⅰ: Introduction of the studies of Canadian socialist feminism at home and abroad and definition such words as feminism, socialist feminism, women's movement.Part Ⅱ: The backgrounds of Canadian socialist feminism, which include historical review of women's movement in the world, international and Canadian factors to promote the rise of socialist feminism in Canada.Part Ⅲ: The analysis of theory of Canadian socialist feminism. As one of three major currents of feminism, Canadian socialist feminism possessed its own characteristics, symbolized by "Wages for Housework "assumed by Margaret Benston in her "The Political Economy of Women's Liberation". There are many differences between socialist feminism and other currents.Part Ⅳ: The practice activities of Canadian socialist feminism. During the second wave of women's movement in the 1960-70s, it put the theory into practice by means of organizing, strike, demonstration, consciousness-raising groups and so on.Part Ⅴ: Conclusion. Canadian socialist feminism had deep impacts on both women's movement and Canadian society. Being an effective combination of the theory with the practice, Canadian socialist feminism was not one-to-one addition of socialism and feminism, but one section of feminism. It was under the influence of American counterpart while having the moderate features. After 1980 it was taken place of by other feminism and therefore became marginal.
