This thesis pursues the causes of the development of the historical characteristics, subjects, techniques and styles of the portrait-paintings of the emperors in the Ming and Qing Dynasty, as well as tries to pursue the profound cultural elements in them, and then evaluates their artistic achievements and historical importance. Through explaining the typical portrait-paintings of the emperors in the two dynasties, this thesis reveals the emperors'inner world, characters and political achievements, which can show the readers a more complete and vivid figure of them. As a symbol of a dynasty, the portrait-paintings of the emperors can show us the politics, economy and culture of their time, so they can be the image proof of the dynastic history of the Ming and Qing. |
