Since the 80's of the 20th century, the West various culture theories and literature theories, especially postmodern culture theories and literature theories (post-structuralism, such as unmaking, deconstruction, discontinuity, disppearance, metafiction or anti-novel, disruption, decentring, antitotalization, decharmlizing, signifier and signified and so on), are emerging one after another, which make a notable impact on Chinese literature (including novels) and art more or less.In such a academic tide, how we should face reality, voluntarily meet challenge, seek the developing direction of our own literature, scientifically and totally establish the new system of our own literature, is an important subject that we are facing at present. Of course, this is also a very reason why we research avant-garde fiction.Avant-garde fiction came into being in the mid-1980s, its representative authors are Ma yuan, Ge fei, Hong feng, Sun Ganlu, Yu hua etc.This postgraduate thesis is written about the postmodern tendency of the Chinese contemporary avant-garde fiction, it researches the writing modes and the existing state of this kind of avant-garde fiction, mainly manifests the relationships between Chinese avant-garde fiction 1 and the West postmodernism . Furthermore , this postgraduate thesis also expounds some theoretical problems and some realistic problems of this literature phenomenon, and presents its update aesthetic contributions to Chinese contemporary novel and other relevant sides. Through expounding these phenomena, the paper makes a valuable attempt to put forward a probable opinion of the value and roles of the Chinese avant-garde fiction .The thesis analyzes the origin , social condition and human factors (theorists and novelists concerned) of the Chinese contemporary avant-garde fiction , which absorbs the present studies at home and abroad but meanwhile puts forward its own view. For example, it sets forth its own views about the current developing trend and basic principles of this literature phenomenon-this relationships between Chinese avant-garde fiction and the West postmodern theory and culture.The most important parts of the whole thesis are the post-modern textual features of the Chinese contemporary avant-garde fiction, the textual features consist of the artistic form of writing and the textual content of writing. The artistic form includes three aspects, i.e. metafiction, anti-plot and linguistic play. The textual content includes four aspects, i.e. deconstructing "Grand history", deconstructing social reality, deconstructing human social values and deconstructing textual theme etc. Of course, they are also the most important subjects arousing people's focus . So, they are limited into a concrete section and given special research respectively. At the same time, the thesis points out that the writing modes of the avant-garde fiction affects the writing of later fiction to a certain degree.
