The aim of this dissertation is to probe into the future development of Chinese feminine literature by means of analyzing and comparing the contemporary Chinese and British feminine literatures, on the basis of the brief introduction of the two literatures and their similarities and differences found thereafter. As British feminine literature has reached a relatively mature level after hundreds of years of long-standing development, it is beneficial to Chinese feminine literature to learn and make use of some of its advantages with a reasonable attitude. This dissertation adopts a research method of facts first, generalizations second. For the part of introduction of the two literatures, two different ways of categorization are used: chronological order for China and themes of writing for Britain. Based on the comprehensive illustration of the facts, similarities and differences between the two literatures are abstracted and the causes of formation behind them are explored by way of systematical analysis and comparison. Hereby comes the conclusion: British feminine literature is stemmed from not only the self-consciousness of gender, but also the self-consciousness of human nature. This trans-gender writing, which not only is based on the special gender status of women, but also surpasses the exclusive feminism concept, is what the Chinese women writers should learn from. Chinese feminine literature should strive to keep the feminine spirits of self-esteem, confidence and independence, more importantly, seek for more broad senses of humanity and social responsibility. Only by doing so, can Chinese feminine literature walk out of the narrow space of feminism and promote theultimate emancipation of women —— becoming the fully-developedhuman being!...
