Vladimir Nabokov is a greatly controversial Russian American novelist, who claims that literatures should not be related to politics and need not have to focus on ethic or morality and that gaining the esthetical ecstasy is the most important. This ecstasy is introspective and is an obsessing and extreme delight that can be experienced during the process of reading. With notable reputation and imputation as well, Zhou Xingchi is a director, a screenwriter and an actor of Hongkong China. He uses absurd and garrulous words and maniacal and exaggerated behaviors to present the audience with super laughing stocks, making the audience, in an carnival state, whirl in Zhou's unique comedies forgetting the surroundings and even themselves.This paper mainly analyzes the differences and similarities in their aesthetical tropism by discussing their major works and in this process, builds a bridge that spans three gorges— the English and Chinese languages used respectively by them, the diverse European and Chinese cultural atmospheres nurturing them and the two distinct artistic formats (novel and movie) employed by them. |
