Listening comprehension, as one of the major way of knowledge acquisition, has taken a very important place in Linguistic Study. But during the traditional teaching process, listening comprehension drills only focus on the semantic distinguishing and remembering. The teaching pattern is: teacher broadcast a listening comprehension material - students do the exercises - teacher gives out the answer and let the students check. The teaching result is very unsatisfied with low efficiency. Most students' listening comprehensions are very poor, and they have little feeling of language and slow respond, which directly block their communication. However, with the English Teaching Method Reform going further and deeper, more and more teachers and students begin to pay a lot attention on Listening comprehension's acquisition.This paper is focus on the analysis of listening comprehension barriers with the schema theory. By introducing the basic concepts, features and classifications of the schema theory, the writer has generalized the process of listening comprehension and analyzed the relationship between the schema theory and listening comprehension, then pointed out the importance of using the schema theory on listening comprehension, show how to compose and activate students' schema during the teaching process.
