Cultural Taipei "shanghai" Complex

The culture of Taibei after 1949 has represented a nostalgia and attaching for Shanghai. In a word, the "Shanghai Complex" of New Taibei has been rooted from cultural recollection andimagination------direct experience and recollection of Shanghai, or atavicrecollection and imagination of Shanghai. This recollection or imagination, which is proximal to this dissertation, has been rooted from a large quantity of bureaucracy, businessmen , literators and their dependents, who had lived in Shanghai for generations or just sojourned , made their homes in Shanghai, migrated to Chinese Taibei when Kuomintang withdrew from Chinese Mainland in 1949. BaiXianyong, a famous writer, has made prominent contribution to the "Recollection of Shanghai" and the "Imagination of Shanghai" for the people of Taibei.This disseration is compartmentalized into two chapters and from literatural and cultural angels respectively, they try to discuss the "Old Shanghai Complex" of the New Taibei and strive toclarify the deep-seated reasons that make it come into being------including the macroscopical atmosphere of the society and the microcosmic psychology of the individuals.
