With regard to study in the adverb of Chinese language, the adverb of local dialect remains an area of inefficient study, without due scholarship attention. This paper is to summarize the fairly complete system of adverbs of degree in Nantong local dialect and come up with a detailed analysis of its adverbs of degree in the narrow sense. The purpose is to explore the basic features and characteristics of the adverbs of degree in Nantong local dialect.This paper starts with a fairly systematic summary of the adverbs of degree in the local language, then followed by a selective identification and comparison in two groups of representative adverbs of degrees in the local dialect as compared to the Mandarin language in terms of grammatical function and origin of source etc. First group is absolute objective adverbs of degree( expressing superb/over quantum) such as "Mei Hun, o find out the very origin of and its grammaticalMei Gen, Xian, Hen", and the other group is absolute subjective adverbs of degree( expressing sub-super quantum) such as "Jiao Gun, Man, Lao, Xi". The author applies theory and method of modern Chinese research to conduct a complete analysis of its grammatical structure, semantic meaning and application. Besides a concurrent study, the paper is also to apply a historic study into the adverbs of the local language, aimed t transition of the adverbs of degree in the language development. Meanwhile, this paper also covers a comparative study of adverbs of degree between Nantong dialect and other local dialects, to explore the difference of the Nantong Dialect and northern dialect and southern Wu Dialect. This paper succeeds in identification of the degree of quantum of some common adverbs such as "Mei Hun, Mei Guan" by pointing out the characteristic features of "Mei Hun, Mei Guan, Xian, Hen" and their complimentary functions.
