Dynamic Assessment/Testing (tests of learning potential) refers to assessment of thinking, perception, learning, and problem solving by an active teaching process aimed at modifying cognitive functioning. It is an innovative approach to assessment of human abilities, especially learning potential. Many researches showed that dynamic testing can assess the abilities of children effectively.Developmental reading disabilities refer to the children that their intelligence, motivation etc are normal, but the abilities of reading is lower than that of their intelligence or age. Presently, most of researchers used the static test to identify the reading disabilities. Static test have a long history, however, it can not reveal the children's potential ability, especially the disadvantaged children. As a result, the reading disabilities identified by static test were higher than expected. Based on the above analysis, our experimental research employ the static and dynamic testing to identify the reading disabilities. In this research, we used the Static and dynamic testing to assess the reading ability of Grade 3 students in primary school. Our sample consisted of 155 children, and the main results are as follows:1. Dynamic testing is administrated under the probe or hint condition, it can assess the learning potential of the children. Therefore, Initiall scores of the reading disabilities identified by static test are significant different from that of the normal group. However, the significant difference are not appeared on their gain scores.2. Gain scores of the reading disabilities identified by static test are improved, however, the gain scores are not improved at the same level. The improvement varied within samples. For this reason, we can drawn the conclusion that dynamic testing can classify the reading disabilities identified by static test effectively.3. Gain scores of dynamic testing can predict the finals. Therefore, researchers should considering the advantage and the disadvantage of the above test while identifying the reading disabilities. We should use the static test firstly and then administrate dynamic testing to assess the reading abilities of the reading disabilities identified by static test so that we can make the scientific identification.
