Mental Problem Of Philosophy, Scientific Inquiry And Reflection

The 'mind problem' has been widely discussed and deeply explored in philosophy field and science field. Philosophy and science have made great contributions for human being to recognize the 'mind problem' in spite of the fact that they have used different research methods in different stages.The cognitive science has combined all the subjects which have not only direct or indirect relations to mind research but also the common target named to truly recognize mind. The birth of cognitive science has turned to be a turned point in mind research.The author focuses on philosophy and science, the two main fields in mind research, to expand the discussion on the 'mind problem'. So many disciplines are there in science that we could not enroll all of them .The author chooses psychology and artificial intelligence as the two main topics. Other subjects such as computer science, language science, neuro-science and so on contribute to mind research but do not take mind as the main research object will not be discussed one by one but served as useful complement to psychology, artificial intelligence and philosophy discussion in this dissertation.There are five integrated parts in this paper. Firstly, the author looks into the mind and its characters of human being. In the following two parts, a brief review of the main points in philosophy and psychology about 'mind problem' and their contributions to it is made stage by stage, which might be helpful for people to accept the beneficial and reject the harmful in current time. The fourth part serves as the core of this paper, we can find that philosophy and science are well combined on former achievements of philosophy and psychology in mind research and cognitive science. Further more, nowadays mind research embodies inosculation of philosophy and science clearly in methodology and disciplines. Rethinking the epistemology and methodology in scientific research from the point of philosophy , and doubt on many philosophy views driven from achievements in science make up a vivid picture of mind research. A deep-going analysis is made in this part. So many aspects are involved in the 'mind problem', in the conclusion part, the author brings her question and makes a prospect on mind research.
