Sichuan Pure Sound is one unique style of our folk art treasures. It first began during the reign of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, got its independence from 1930s to 1940s and became popular during the time of 1950s and 1960s.At the early stage of the 20th century, in the story telling fields of teahouses of Han nationality in Sichuan province, Sichuan pure sound gained its popularity and gradually became one most important part of people's cultural life. Sichuan pure sound is one of the most popular and influential folk art forms.Folk singing is one singing approach of China. And it not only has got mature singing theories from the west, but also benefited from Chinese traditional historical culture. So this leads to the erudite and unique folk singing form.Any art form must follow the objective rule of development. And it must experience the process of origin, development, decline and perishing. Everything has its lifecycle. The art form, which sticks to characteristic and also is skilled in using and inherit other art forms, surely will have a long lifecycle. If one art form rigidly adheres to the tradition without adapting to reality, it will most possibly come to a premature end. Nowadays, Sichuan pure sound has less and less popular among modern people. The number of audience is gradually reduced. Inthis essay, the author tries to analyze the popularity and decline of Sichuan pure sound in positive and negative ways, further discuss how to absorb essence to inherit and use from it and then find ways to make the essence helpful to Chinese folk art.This essay is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is about the summary of the culture of Sichuan pure sound. The living conditions of Sichuan pure sound are introduced from geographical and cultural views. And the history and changes of Sichuan pure sound are also be mentioned.The second chapter is about the structure and singing of Sichuan pure sound. In this chapter, the author summarizes the characteristic of the musical form and singing of Sichuan pure sound. The summary includes the structure of tunes, the form and characteristic of singing, special voice in singing and accompaniment.The third chapter is about how folk vocal music inheriting Sichuan pure sound. This chapter plays very important role in this essay. The author discussed the ways of folk vocal music learning from and inheriting Sichuan pure sound. Folk vocal music inherits Sichuan pure sound form the contents, the characteristic of singing and vocal singing of Sichuan pure sound.The fourth chapter is referring to the approach of Chinese folk vocal music. Also this chapter is very important in this essay. The chaptersummarizes the whole essay and the main theme is also mentioned in it. In the first place, the development of the vocal music art is introduced from the theoretical view. And then the status of Chinese folk vocal music is briefly analyzed. In the end, the reform and development of Chinese folk vocal music is mentioned. To sum up, the author gives her own advice and suggestions referring to the problems mentioned in the essay.
