Mosaic Mural Art In The Development Of China

Public art plays an important role in the city construction of many developed countries. Mosaic art was originated from the West and takes an irreplaceable part in public art because of its unique visual effects. The artistic forms of mosaic never stop to develop and update since its birth. My study at first introduces briefly the long history of mosaic art and its new development and vogues in our society nowadays, including areas from ancient Greece, ancient Rome till modern Italy, North Korea, Russia, USA, etc. The second part is interviews with fresco artists and normal people in support of the research for the current situation of mosaic art in China and in Beijing. The reasons for that mosaic art is unpopular in China and the future of this kind of art are also discussed and concluded here. I wish the research could do some efforts to the promotion and development mosaic art in China.
