Creativity And Cognitive Inhibition, The Relationship Between Working Memory Study

Creativity is defined as the ability that produces the original, valuable mental products or thoughts.the research of creativity is always the focus of the psychological studies.There are studies shown that,creativity is the interactional result of personality, environment, cognitive ability and cultural factors,etc,however,the amount of cognitive research for creativity is still few.There exists controversies in the studies refers the relation between the cognitive inhibition and creativity , some researchers think that cognitive disinhibiton is critical to creativity,while other researchers' opinion is the cognitive inhibition that filtrates the useless information,then gives birth to creativity.On the other hand,the research of the relation between creativity and working memory is rare,working memory is conceptualized as a system of temporarily storing and manipulating information in the execution of complex cognitive tasks,including central executive system,verbal loop and visuospatial system,the influence of working memory to creativity is another focus in the research.We select 270 undergraduates to complete the creativity tests,and divides them into 2 groups,27 subjects each to attend the behavioral experiment.The conclusions are: (1)cognitive inhibition is the character of the creative people;(2)the performance of higher creativity people are better than that of the lower creativity people in the working memory and planning-executing tasks.
