Boris Pilniak (Pilnyak), an important Russian writer, has ever gained a high reputation in the 1920's and his works are an essential part of Russian literature. Pilniak won the title "Pilniak's Style" for his originality in creation and many young writers of his time tried to follow his style. In spite of this, his works, when published, always received both praise and criticism and these comments never ceased at the time, only because of his unusual way of thinking and narration. Thus, his works had ever been laid idle for a long time out of some historical and social reasons. These works, however, are coming back within readers' view nowadays and much remedial work and research are badly needed. The paper provides an overall research on the works about depicting the town life of other provinces. The first part, through the analysis of the themes, contents and thoughts of these works, reveals Pilniak's unique cultural standpoint - to research the author how to exhibit the real life by means of his own perspective and to ponder over the future of Russia with his own historical view. The second part explores the narrative structure, summarizes the basic artistic techniques and poins out the holy-fool narrative method is the important pattern of his works. The third part expounds Pilniak's inheritance and innovation of the tradition, including the relationship between he and the traditional cultural spirit of Russia, the relationship of which he continue and inherit the other writers. The end of the paper is the concluding remarks.
