Writing about identity is the most prevalent theme that many overseas Chinese who are away from homeland talk about. Those authors record their vital experiences in different cultural background in emotional texts. Since the entire overseas students up to immigrant literature, in the 1960s-70s' Taiwanese overseas students' literature had created their "rootless generation" and "awakening generation", which communicated strong nostalgia, this established their unique position in Chinese literary history. This article emphasis on analyzing Taiwanese overseas students in the 1960s-70s that appealed to their cultural identity. This paper will use people from other countries now live in Taiwan as the source. First of all, the foundation of overseas students' cultural identities will be discussed, or the anxiety of their cultural identity. Then evaluating writing of identity in the cultural conflict background, the author considers overseas students' inherent identities' crisis has not been solved though they go abroad, which even becomes more serious. Thus it enhanced the literary theme changed from the "rootless generation" to the "awakening generation". Finally, talk about those Taiwanese overseas students' impersonal thinking of Chinese and Western culture. As a result, the anxiety of cultural identity which the Taiwanese overseas students in the 1960s-70s had represented is the objective of this article, and also the heart this paper pursues. This special identity characteristic caused the irreplaceable artistic beauty in that period.
