Thunderstorm, which is written by Cao Yu, is a Milestone-like masterpiece in the theatrical history of China. In this drama, there are eight figures moulded, with the natures bright and vivid, in which Zhou Fanyi is second to none. There have been so many sorts of interpretation, nevertheless, this thesis is about to attempt to analyse and interpret Thunderstorm and Zhou Fanyi's existence as Dasein, led by the standpoint and method of Existentiale in Being and Time of Heidegger. We hold that the previous valuation and analyses on Zhou Fanyi, always led by worldly views and theories which is the first impressions for most lasting, really missed the possibility of a figure as Dasein in interpreting, in spite of their judged points. Existentially speaking, these judgements are rather the researches ontical, than existentially seeking the Being of the figure itself. Returning to Fanyi's life itself to see her whole life, existentially holding this abnormal day in her life, in the view of Resolutement which is an existential structure in order to interpret that burst occurring on the night of"thunderstorm"which changed her fate and others', those, as the foundation, to discuss Fanyi's"Being as thounderstorm", will lead this existential interpretation, in the direction of its target. The structure of the thesis can be divided into the following parts:Foreword: Give a brief description of the general situation of the research on Zhou Fanyi, as the foundation, mention the standpoint and view of the thesis.ChapterⅠ: Existentially insight Zhou Fanyi herself. Repeat to mention the question"Who is Zhou Fanyi"and lead to rethink about her existence, with turning the sight from ontically to ontologically, to expect that Zhou Fanyi can be analysed and interpreted in her life, primordially in the meaning of Being. Thus, from the prompt of play in script, give a narration of the impression left by Zhou Fanyi, just as first acquaintance of herself; however, this is just a matting of existential interpretation.ChapterⅡ: The interpretation of Fanyi's existence, by taking her reality as the starting point. Having her existence of possibility as whole in mind, analyse and interpret her idea course. This chapter is the main body, which can be divided by three sections: Section 1: Fanyi's existential state, Unwilling to Fall. Begin with her existential state, analytically point out that the depression and gloomy mood, which Zhou Puyuan has brought to Fanyi, mutually within exterior and interior, compared to the weather before the thunderstorm. That, will directly result in her Projection and burst from which she has been unwilling to fall. Her circumstances seem to be a canary in the Zhou's that may be compared to a"birdcage"with stylish accouterment; nevertheless, her wildness with the elegance in the past woman, make a sameness of the leopard under the pen of Rilke. Thus, what will this leopard which is treated as a canary locked in do in crucial moment of its life?Section 2: The way out and wish that Fanyi make a Projection towards. Fanyi with the state of unwilling to fall, encountered Zhou Ping who came from his hometown; from then on, her way out and wish had tied to this man. Thereupon, the thesis gets down to her existential projection, according to the gut development, it could be interpreted by several possibilities which she has projected in order to strive for the way out. While each effort could not change her miserable fate, she chose Resoluteness and to burst.Section 3: Fanyi's road to ruin, make Resoluteness. This is the burst from all despairs that she dominate and make Resoluteness of her life, when she could not settle with normal method. Fanyi strove and projected her way out with unwilling to fall, which finally pointed here, instead of being as a target. At the moment of her Resoluteness, her related son Zhou Chong also involved in, there came to an end as a great tragedy among three deads and two insanes, including herself.ChapterⅢ: Fanyi--"Thunderstorm-like"Being. Upon the foundation of the analyses and interpretation in ChapterⅡ, the question about the relationship between Fanyi and"Thunderstorm"is mentioned again, led by Existentiale, which is not a match between the two entities but this—"thunderstorm-like", rather the method and state possessed by Fanyi, thus it is the existential foundation to compare the features of the both ontically. Then, make a further probe of the prologue and epilogue of Thunderstorm that is related to the ends of the figures, and point out that what enlightenment about life lies in, for the reason that Fanyi and thunderstorm have been respectively the successful figures and notable theatrical masterpiece. Conclusion: Repeat to stress the standpoint of the thesis, and Strengthen the effect of the interpretation.
