The research object of my thesis is"bi ran"category of modal adverbs. Based on the language data, the thesis investigates the"bi ran"category of modal adverbs, and analyses them, then reveals the rules of their usage in modern Chinese. It divides into 6 chapters:Chapter 1 Introduction: This part introduces the purpose of the thesis, theoretical methodologies, presuppositions and the sources of corpus. Besides, it presents a picture of the status of research on"bi ran"category of modal adverbs.Chapter 2 Scope and Limit: Firstly, we describe the semantic frame of"bi ran"category of modal adverbs. Secondly, we identify the scope of them, and pick up the representative adverbs——"bi ran","shi bi","yi ding","bi ding"and"zhun bao". Thirdly, we get rid of those meaning which are not express affirmative deduction. In the last, we analyze the semantic structure mode of"bi ran".Chapter 3 Location and Distribution: This chapter we describe"bi ran"category of modal adverbs in detail from the sentence pattern and the sort of mood, then generalize their location characters and essential property.Chapter 4 Co-occurrence and Collocation: We investigate the co-occurrence of"bi ran"category of modal adverbs between person, dynamic auxiliary words, modal auxiliary words. Besides, we research the collocation of"bi ran"category of modal adverbs inside and with other modal adverbs.Chapter 5 Function and expression: In this part, we illustrate the reason of difference between these five representative adverbs from semantic, and demonstrate the function of them.Chapter 6 Conclusion: The purpose of this part is summarizing the entire thesis, review our research method, and point out the research conclusion.
