In Song Dynasty, running script, which was represented by "Song's four masters", stood erect in Chinese calligraphy world, being the representative of Shangyi Writing Style. However, the regular script then couldn't match that of Jin and Tang Dynasty. Influenced by Jin and Song's style, a good many people were good at regular script in Song Dynasty, but few could achieve a high fame . Why did it fade after Tang's bloom? The study of its characteristics and the reason of its fade can help us get a better understanding.This composition is aimed to make a brief description and probe into its cause of formation from itself and society. The further development of Confucianism idea, making calligraphers idea distinctively active. They thought calligraphy should have the spirit of the living things, arguing against Tang's idea that characters are confined in a certain frame, especially regular scrip. Song's emperors prefer to lead the handwriting fashion according to their own favor. Standards of selecting the outstanding varied from handwriting to logic and reduced the demand of regular script, making people change their attitude . With the development of printing , daily handwriting decreased and people tended to go out the beauty of other styles, especially running and grass ones. In this way, printing , whose main form is regular script, spread so fast that the beauty of this style faded.
