JiaYi ( BC200-BC168 ) ,from LuoYang, was a outstanding statesman,thinker,litterateur in earaly Han Dynasty. When Emperor Xiaowen took the reins, he was a court academician, twice served as Tai Fu(a power official). His story was written in Shi Ji(Historical Records)and Han Shu(History of the Former Han Dynasty). His political essays(58pieces)were collected in New Book. Besides, he wrote several rhyme proses. His works set a good example in early Han Dynasty for the following literary ones. He formed a connecting link between the preceding Pre—Qin Philosophers and the following thought of unification of the whole country put forward by Dong Zhong Shu .He occupied an important historical status not only in two Han Periods but also in the whole Chinese history of thought.His political essays was for administering affairs with unique style, their features were as follows: combination of history and argument, penetrating; concise language, profound argument, writing in an incisive style, strong passion , from which we can see the courage and the wisdom in him as a statesman and reformer passed down from Per—Qin dynasty philosophers and political strategists in the Warring States Period . His political essays was an example to learn at that time as well as afterworld so that his famous political essay of On Qin dynasty's faulty Policy was given praises by Lu Xun,called as Former Han dynasty's Masterpiece .His achievements of political essays was tiptop with a tremendous influence over the whole Han Dynasty .His rhyme prose, melancholy and indignant as well as full of noble aspiration and daring, was an important link during the transition of style from the Sao style rhyme prose to the Ode style of the Former Han Dynasty .His works, including political essays and rhyme proses, is one of the great monuments of Chinese literature.
