"lin Yutang" Study

This thesis starts with analysing the text of Six Chapters of a Floating Life , and study on the publishing and disseminating of it. then explore the truth of the fake about the latter two chapters ,also focus on the analysis of the hero and the heroine. in the last chapter we can conclude that this thesis have got special artistic achievements. During the course of exploring we try to resolve some outstanding attack and find out the reason of its bestseller .In the first chapter we List all kinds of editions, translations . The facts of widely spread show the bestseller of Six Chapters of a Floating Life.In Chapter II, we demonstrate the latter two chapters of Six Chapters of a Floating Life about each editions we can read today are forgery, and we try to find the truth of the forgery by analyzing the relevant evidences.Chapter III start with analysing the text, we can know our hero and heroine better by reading the text clearly. In the first section, we introduce the whole life of our hero Shenfu, and show how he love his life. then we can come into his soul world and find the essence of his thought. In the second section, we interpret our heroine Chenyun as a ideal female, and try to analyse the reason why she tragically died in young.In Chapter IV we interpret the unique style of Six Chapters of a Floating Life, an autobiographical narrative and lyric prose, and try to interpret it is a prose of great beauty which showed in three parts: the beauty of emotion, the beauty of tragedy, and the beauty of literature. therefore we can draw the conclusion about the main artistic achievements of Six Chapters of a Floating Life.
