Feng Yansi Study

Feng Yansi is a famous ci writer of the Tang and Five-Dynasties. The number of his existing poems is the most in the same period. The words of his literary works are refined. His poems are dim and implicit. Its connotations are much richer with deep emotions. To make Ci refined and characteristic of the intellectuals, such a direction is advocated and promoted by Feng Yan-si. Although later generation's literature reviewers dispute his moral standing frequently, we should judge of him equitably. His is the leader of the genre of Southern Tang Ci poetry, which is an important genre in the history of Ci poetry. Feng Yansi inherits the Huajian Ci (a genre of petty romantic Ci), and enlightens YAN and OU, who are the represented writers in the initial stages of North Song Dynasty. He is a pioneer of the coming Ci style of the North Song. Feng Yansi, displays his high artistic value in the composition of Ci, has had a far-reaching impact on creation of later generation's scholar's word.
