The Les Contemporains edited by Shi Zhe-cun is an influential maganize in New Literature Movement of China in 1930s, whose editor ideas mainly consist of the following two parts: the commercial publishing operation which conforms to the urban cultural connotations of Shanghai, and the introduction of western modernism which makes it a literary magazine with the view of the world and modern-oriented. In this paper, we study its commercial properties, construction of the public sphere, editor methods, submissions with pseudonym and view of the world. We also organize the translation of foreign literature works in the Les Contemporains by country order, which is for further studying its open system. We conclude our study as follows:(1) There is clear urban cultural and commercial vestige in the editor ideas of the Les Contemporains which was inaugurated in Shanghai in 1930s, while which does not reduce its legitimacy and elegance as a solemn literary magazine.(2) The world literature in various fields is employed in the Les Contemporains. The rise and development of the Chinese modern literature is impacted by the cultural trends of the world greatly. The development status of the Chinese modern literature in 1930s is recorded in the Les Contemporains, which promotes its development and innovation, but also reflects the status of literature in Europe, America and Japan, which makes the literature of the other countries can be understanded. The Les Contemporains drives the rise of the modernist works, increases the styles and the contents of modern literature and also speeds the transformation from the neoteric literature to the modern literature in China. It is important in the aspects of the world literature to China, the Chinese literature to the world and the cultural exchanges between China and the western.(3) In this paper, we also study some authors'pseudonyms, and substantiate that Anyi is one of the Shi Zhe-cun's pseudonyms, which did not be mentioned in the previous papers which study Shi Zhe-cun and the Les Contemporains.
