KimHukchul was not only an Ant-Japanese fighter, but a great KoreanChinese writer.He spent one third of his life in prison. He was deprived of hispolitical rights and rights to write, and living under close observation,he had to stand the inhuman way of life.Four years' prison life in Japan and ten years' in China had a greateffect on his personality formation and literary work. In this report,it will he discussed how literary values of his work are constitutedthrough presenting the twists and turns of his life, espec! ially lifein prison.First, KimHukchul strengthened his faith in the Communism andrevolution will through life in prison which helped him overcome thehardships with revolutionary optimism. A]though the content of his workfocused on life in prison, he exposed with his high powers of caricatureand humor.Second, KimHukchul never lost his faith in Communism, but he stronglyrejected a personality cult.Third, novels like Secret Information System exposure fatuities ofsociety, corruption of power, sickness of individuals and foreshadoweda victory of human nature and humanistic world.KimHukchul's works-basing on life in prison play an important partin his literary creation.
