| Katherine Mansfield is an important figure in the English literary history. Her specialty, the short story, allowed her to break through the traditional criteria that represented reality. She concentrated on her characters'interior worlds and mental activities while analyzing them, increasing or decreasing the plots in this process. The core of her works is the psychology, the mental processes that determine the actions of her characters; the outside setting is only the foil of the mental reality. As a result, a special style of short story with poetic charm is created, with many writing features that differ from traditional realistic styles. These techniques best emerged in her short stories; and careful analysis is necessary for revealing these devices. Mansfield was adept at expressing certain emotions through symbols. Symbolic imagery is Mansfield's most meaningful and frequently used literary device. This paper strives to elucidate Mansfield's works using her abstract images for entry.
