The translation and introduction of Faulkner's novels in China can be dated back as far as the middle of 1930's. Up to now, all the significant novels of Faulkner have been translated and published in China as well as many research papers and study books written by a couple of Chinese scholars. When taking a close review in the progress of Faulkner's introduction in China, we could perceive evidently that the progress displayed as a peculiar trade of rising and falling in different periods. What are the potential causes behind such phenomenon? This paper tries to solve this problem. Firstly, this paper makes a vivid survey of the historical data of Faulkner's introduction in China. Then based on the specific political-cultural context in China, this paper tries to explain the causes of influence with Lefevere's translation theory from the angle of cultural level, therefore, tries to analysis the aspects that influence the process of a certain writer when introduced into China by the case of Faulkner's introduction. Thirdly, this paper makes an influence study of Faulkner by comparing three Chinese writers' writing with Faulkner's in order to see the potential factors of Faulkner which can be traced from the novels of Chinese writers.
