El Greco, one of the greatest painters in the art history of Spain, whose style is distinctive, has a far-reaching influence on the Modernism artists of the 20th century. The article analyzes the artist's style firstly and discusses its objective and subjective causes by studying his career. Among facts such as the Byzantine tradition, the Venetian art, the Mannerism style, the artist's religious spiritual feeling had the deepest impact upon his style, which is represented by long limbs out of proportion, vitality of colors, sweeping flame-like movement.
