| As the first general history presented in a series of biographies ,Records of the Historian is representative of Han Dynasty language in historical documents. The Historical Records was the first biographic general history book in China, and it's language was representative of Han Dynasty. It was not only a treasure-house ful1 of historical materials, but also a treasure-house full of linguistic materials. From the linguistics angle, Records of the Historian may be rated as a faithful record of Han Dynasty language. It reflected the basic looks feature of the language of Han Dynasty, and of had great research value. Personal pronouns were largely widely used in the book of Records of the Historian. From analysing the personal pronouns in this book, we can get a hint of the looks feature of the personal pronouns through the whole Han Dynasty.Personal pronouns to be cited in this paper were the first , the second , the third personal pronouns and nouns of humble or polite expressions,and the grammatical function and frequency were also discussed. This paper was based on a full study at about the relevant achievements of the venerable seniors or current worthy persons, sorting out and researching the personal pronouns and humble or polite expressions in Records of the Historian in a more comprehensive, systematic and thoroughgoing way. This paper was divided into five chapters. Chapter one was the introduction. It introduced the significance and current research situation on personal pronouns in Records of the Historian, and as well as the research methords of this thesis. Chapter two inquired into the quanities and grammatical function of the first personal pronouns and humble or polite expressions in Records of the Historian. The difference between the ancient Chinese expression of "I" and the contemporary expression of "I" was emphatically pointed out in this chapter's summary. Chapter three focused on the quanities and grammatical function of the second personal pronouns and polite expressions, anlysed their Categoriwtion and frequency of utilization, and also anlysed the regional characteristics and the type of writing style on the ancient Chinese expression of "I" and "you". Chapter four discusses the quantities and grammatical function of the third personal pronouns in Records of the Historian. The last chapter summarized the whole article. |
