New Musical Artistic Expression Forms Of The (1949-1966)

Musical film is a type of film which synthesizes music, dance, drama and other kinds of arts. Musical film originated in America and created many miracles on the screen during 80 years journey. Hollywood musical films are well known in the world. It formed special arts and aesthetic styles during the rapid development time and made a deep effect on musical film over the world. New china's musical film starts late and grows slow. Because of the limits of technology and background of political culture, new China's musical film appears some different features from America. From the documentary film which a record from stage is to dance film, opera film and musical feature film, new China's musical film get creative experience in different stages and different forms of expression. At the same time, people learn some creative experience which is suitable to Chinese flavor gradually. It provides enriched contents on china's films.New china's background of history and culture decides this kind of film takes distinct political flavors and epochal characters. It is different from Hollywood musical film which makes dreams and entertainments. New china's musical film joined in some socialist art culture and combined with national art style. It appears local art characters that contents of film should follow the political principal and requirements, and the film strengthens people's conscious. But now many film creators work hard in musical film and successfully make a special road for china's musical film in music, dance and epic film which is differ from Hollywood musical film.This article takes new China's culture and history for the past 17 years as a research background to conclude artistic styles and aesthetic characters of new china's musical film, through analyzing its different artistic forms of expression in contents, forms, narrative skills and so on, and put the film into different categories to go further into the internal cause of different forms of expression in the film. Moreover, this article is based on cultural differences between China and America, thinking deeply on a further development for china's musical film through comparing with musical films between those two countries in ideology, content and narrative style to gain valuable enlightenment. Furthermore, this article makes suggestions on china's musical film and is valuable for china's musical film research.
