In 1990s,with medium to long size novels becoming the hot spot, short stories haven't attracted the eyeballs in both production and critics. In this forgotten corner,more recognition and attention shall be given to writers in this field. Synchronizing with new period literature and focusing on writing short stories for twenty years, Mr.Liu Qingbang is the representative of contemporary writers in China who are dedicated to writing short story, winning the praise of "King of short stories".However, researches have been done little on his works, and systemic studies are even less.Through systematic text reading of Mr. Liu's works, the author would analyze under the diversified literary ecosystem Liu Qingbang's spiritual dilemma and gains and losses in literature.This graduation dissertation is divided into four parts in total.Part A, B: The author analyze the particular value of Liu's works describing collier's life and the reason that Liu's literature creation turn from describing collier's life to rural life.Part C: To start with the characters in Liu' novels always have the sense of homelessness, the dissertation tries to study the theme of conflict between diferent civilization that runs through Liu's works. The author reveal that being homeless is not only the spiritual dilemma that Liu should face, but more essentially the spiritual dilemma of our age.Part D: Beginning with aesthetic style of Liu Qingbang's works, the author of this dissertation point out that two extreme aesthetic style existing in Liu's works is the embodiment of his spiritual dilemma. And moreover, the author will analyze artistic characteristic of Liu's short story and the value of his works describing country life. In the end, the author point out that the localization of Liu's works and look forward to seeing more achievement that he can make in literary.
