Er ya zhu(《尔雅注》)was written by ZhengQiao in Southern Song. Although it is a scholiastic work, it has many phonetic notations, and through these phonetic notations ,we can know more about phonetics in Song dynasty, and can also support the phonetic conclusion which was already arrived by some scholars. This paper employs the method of comparative Fanqie(反切)and phonetic analogy. These paper concludes four parts. We introduce the writer and the book itself in the first part.In the second part , we introduce the initials in this book, and the features are: Quanzhuo(全浊)initials partly glossed with voiceless initinals; initinal Ni(泥)and Niang(娘)are merged; initial Yun(云)and Yi(以)are merged; light labial(轻唇音)and heavy labial(重唇音) maintained respectively; the initial groups of Zhisan and Zhang(知三章)are combined respectively, and also the Zhuang and Jing; various initials are glossed interchangeably. In the third part, we introduce the finals, and the features are: The differences between double rhyme(重韵)don?t exist, so do the differences between doubie Qie(重纽);finals of divisionⅢandⅣare merged;finals of different groups are merged considerably, for example, rime groups of Xie(蟹摄)and Zhi(止摄)are combined,so are the Zeng(曾摄)and Geng(梗摄). the differences of enter tone(入声)-p ,-t,-k still existed, and enter tone(入声)can be matched with rhyme Yin(阴声韵)and rhyme Yang(阳声韵); various finals are glossed interchangeably. In the fourth part, we introduce the tones, and the features are: These are four tones ,which are plain tones(平声),rising tones(上声),departing tones(去声)and enter tones(入声). Each has Yin(阴)and Yang(阳), so it develops into eight tones. Quanzhuo rising tones(全浊上声)have little changes, so Quanzhuo rising tones(全浊上声)maintained. Various tones are glossed interchangeably.Further more, there are two appendices. One is about other Phonetic materials that contained in Eryazhu(《尔雅注》); the other appendix is the Phonetic system of modern Putianhua(莆田话).
